  Dear Scripps College Community Members, At the beginning of each academic year, we have an opportunity to recommit to building a thriving community of scholars who contribute to society through lives of leadership, service, integrity, and creativity. On campus, we do this through our orientation programming, our opening events, and in our greetings to one another after a summer that we hope brought fun, relaxation, and new experiences for all. This past week, the hatred, racism, and violence perpetuated by white supremacists in Charlottesville has left many of us not only horrified, but also apprehensive about this attack on our nation’s ideals and its implications for the future. Dear Members of the Scripps College Community, As we close this academic year, I would like to share key actions from the Board of Trustees’ meeting on May 13 and inform you of some campus news and updates. Commencement It was a joy to participate in the 87th annual commencement ceremonies with graduates and their families this past weekend. Our commencement speaker, Reshma Saujani, and the senior class speaker, Vivian Zhang, spoke eloquently about individual and collective responsibility, the importance of community, and the commitment to changing the world for the better. Camp Scripps - June 22 - 25, 2017 Join Scripps alumnae for four days of relaxation, reconnection, and fun!  View and download the Camp 2017 brochure for details including registration information, a schedule of the workshops, campership raffle items, and more. Camp 2017 residence halls NEW Hall and Mary Routt Hall. Yes, Camp will be in our brand new residence hall which opened in August 2016! Camperships If you would like to attend Camp but feel the registration cost is holding you back, please consider applying for one of six available Camperships. Click here to complete the application form by May 1.
